For Yamaha Motor Europe N.V.(YME), located at Schiphol-Rijk in the Netherlands, we are looking for a R2R Accountant Lead in our Finance & Accounting Division.
About the role:
The R2R Accountant Lead (Record to Reporting)is responsible for overseeing and coordinating all general ledger accounting activities for a group of European branch entities within the Shared Service Center (SSC). This role ensures accurate, timely, and compliant financial accounting and closing, serving as the bridge between operational accounting and financial analysis. The Team Lead manages a team of R2R Accountants (9 FTE), ensuring adherence to accounting policies, internal controls, and reporting standards, while collaborating closely with the Finance Business Partners, the treasury team and the Group FP&A team.
Your responsibilities:
Team Leadership & Development
• Lead, coach, and develop the team of R2R Accountants responsible for multiple branch offices.
• Plan and allocate workload to ensure efficient month-end, quarter-end, and year-end closings.
• Ensure team performance meets accuracy, timeliness, and compliance standards.
General Ledger Oversight
• Ensure accurate/complete recording of all accounting transactions across assigned branch offices.
• Review and approve journal entries, accruals, provisions, and intercompany postings.
• Monitor/approve balance sheet reconciliations, ensuring proper documentation and audit trail.
• Oversee fixed asset accounting, prepayments, and deferred income postings.
• Ensure compliance with IFRS, local GAAP, and internal accounting policies (YMGAS/YMGFAP).
Month/Quarter-End & Year-End Closing
• Coordinate and manage the month-end closing process for all branch offices.
• Ensure timely submission of trial balances and supporting documentation to the Finance Business partners and the group FP&A.
• Support internal and external audit activities by providing reconciliations and explanations.
Governance, Controls & Compliance
• Ensure adherence to internal control frameworks and accounting policies (YMGAS - JSOX).
• Support tax, treasury, and compliance reporting by providing accurate accounting data.
• Collaborate with auditors and compliance officers to resolve issues and findings.
Process Improvement & Systems
• Drive standardization, automation, and simplification of G/L accounting processes.
• Contribute to system upgrades, accounting system testing, and process documentation.
• Participate in finance transformation initiatives led by the YME Finance.
Key Deliverables:
• Accurate and compliant general ledger records for assigned entities.
• Timely completion of month-end and year-end closings.
• Validated reconciliations and audit-ready documentation.
• Improved process efficiency and team performance metrics.
• Effective collaboration with Finance Business Partners and other YME F&A functions.
Technical Competencies:
• Solid grasp of IFRS, European statutory frameworks, and intercompany principles.
• Hands-on experience with multi-entity/currency general ledgers.
• Proficiency with ERP systems (SAP, Dynamics 365, or equivalent).
• Strong understanding of intercompany accounting, reconciliations, and eliminations.
• Advanced Excel and analytical skills.
• Knowledge of tax and compliance implications in accounting transactions.
What do you bring?
• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or Business Administration.
• Professional qualification (e.g., ACCA, CPA, RA) preferred.
• 5–8 years of accounting experience, with at least 2 years in a supervisory role.
• Experience in a shared service center or multinational environment required.
• Strong knowledge of IFRS and European statutory reporting requirements.
• Fluency in English; additional European languages advantageous.
